A 70-year-old man has stabbed a 16- year-old girl to death at Aboaso,
near Ntonso in the Ashanti Region after allegedly raping her.
Ben Addai, believed to be a retired teacher, is currently in the grips of the Mampongten Police Station.
He was arrested at Adum after trying to run away from the police.
Neighbours say Mr Addai invited the minor -- a form two student of
Asante Juapong Junior High School -- into his room at 4am Saturday, only
to come out later with no clothes on, her intestines gushing out.
A neighbor, Emmanuel Kesse, who saw the semi-conscious girl rushed her
to the hospital and subsequently reported the incident to the Mampongten
police. Doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), where the
16-year-old was rushed, found semen in her vagina.
Kumasi-based Luv FM's Erastus Asare Donkor says the distraught mother
of the deceased 16-year-old, Sadia Adusei, is not sure whether the minor
entered Mr Addai's room by herself or she was forced in.
However, before she died, the 16-year-old confessed to doctors at KATH the 70-year-old man was her boyfriend.
It is not clear why the 70-year-old man stabbed the girl to death.
But before she passed away, the minor told the neighbour who rushed her
to the hospital that the retired teacher was angry she has been
extorting money from him but will not give in to his sexual advances.
Ben Addai however explains he mistook the girl for an armed robber.
